Windchill is a software that can helps manage products and project data. It can help manage work flows and allow a product or project to be controlled, managed and tracked along a work flow. This system allows user accounts to be created, each with different access levels to different parts of projects or products. My father uses this program while designing new products. When a new project is created it first goes to the administrator for initial approval. Each designer, purchaser of parts, prototype orderer etc have to “check” out different parts of the project and the program tracks who has made changes to what part of the design. Each change is this sent to the administrator in order to be approved. This way no change is made without the knowledge of the project manager and each change is approved and each person involved can see the changes made.
